    How To Increase PageRank

Search engines have certain criteria based on which they rank web pages, such that higher the rank of the page, the better the visibility of that page in relevant search results. A greater visibility equates to having more visitors on your page, which is highly desirable. Website owners are always looking for ways to boost their pageranks and the process they employ to do so is known as Search Engine Optimization (SEO). SEO is about making wise alterations to your website so as to achieve optimal organic search visibility. In layman terms, SEO improves your pagerank which in turn increases the chances of your website being the one that would come up when people search for relevant keywords. This article sheds some light on how to increase pagerank.

Things you can do to increase your pagerank

How to increase pagerank? The trick is to know the criteria search engines use to rank pages, whilst keeping the integrity of your website intact. You want to make the visibility of your page better in relevant search results, and also maintain the quality of your content, for the sake of audience. You may pay search engines to do so or you can go the organic route and optimize your website to upgrade your pagerank. Here are just a few measures you can take to boost your pagerank:

Improve Your Content – If you desire that search engines show your website on top of the others, you will have to make certain that your content is relevant and original with no replications. Search engines do not take kindly to inappropriate repetitions. You should ensure the usage of keywords that are well-researched and related to the subject material. This is the easiest answer to the question: how to increase pagerank.

Optimizing The Structure Of Your Website – You can also tweak the code of your pages to increase your pagerank. One very easy way to do so is to make the URL of your page relevant to the content. Making use of meta tags, by concisely and accurately describing your page content in them is another way, although with all the black sheep in the community capitalizing on that, most search engines don’t value that anymore.

Make Use Of Links – Search engines devise smart algorithms for page ranking that allot a rank according to how well-liked your page is. The internet is primarily composed of a huge number of HTML pages linked together and a page with many links pointing to it is a well-liked page. You need to use links wisely. You can link pages within your website but try not to do so excessively. Other sites may also post your links and the less better the site that advertises your links the better. Promotion of your site through spammy sites is not desirable. It is neither good for your website nor its integrity. You could use reciprocal linking – your site could promote other’s site and they could promote yours – and gain mutual traffic, it’s a win-win deal.

There are, of course, numerous other ways to enhance your pagerank – both good and evil. If you want to know more about how to increase pagerank, search engines like Google and Yahoo offer very thorough guidelines for you to follow, that effectively increase your visibility in search results while making sure you do not break any rules.

Great article, Karoshio. Even though I care about PR only when I'm selling links, it's a very good read.

Thank you for sharing this article. My blog has two years of being established, now has a PR 2, but I think there is a factor of time that has an influence as well.

One good backlink from a high PR site is enough to give you a huge boost in PR.

While it is nice to see that little green bar extend past the 50% mark in the Google Toolbar, I wouldn't make it your focus. Build your site, maintain your site, build your content while trying to keep things original, fresh, and new; all successes will eventually follow.
